Well, I thought this would get some activity, and I'm honestly curious as to the opinions of people here. (especially our fearless leader <3 ) Hopefully this doesn't get too heated, either... lol Personally, I'm OK with it, so long as you buy what you like, or make some sort of effort to reward the hard work of the people who created that music. I don't agree with just grabbing what you can "because it's free" or leaking stuff before it's officially released etc. - that crap doesn't really fly with me. But I've met so many fellow passionate music lovers & collectors this way, and also discovered so many great artists (it's what brought me to Graveface <3 ) that I feel it can actually be quite a net positive result (for the artists). Like so many things in life, it's not the tool itself, but what you do with it that counts.

for myself, i download a lot of music "illegally", and after i "get to know" an album, i always buy it if i like it, most of the time in multiple formats.
i don't think the majority of people are like me though, even if the majority of people on here might be

I kind of have a personal system: I'll download the album, and if I find I'm still listening to it maybe a week or two later, I'll buy it (usually on vinyl). If I'm not still listening to it regularly, I'll delete it and forget about it. There are exceptions. If it's from an artist I trust, I'll usually preorder or buy a physical copy of the album right away.

I used to buy all of my music religiously. If I couldn't buy it, I couldn't hear it. But then I got into torrenting and that all changed. I buy a ridiculous amount of music now, more so than previously, and it's all thanks to file sharing. I have a digital collection of about 100,000 songs and without torrents I wouldn't be spending all of my money on Graveface releases
