In late April I saw The Appleseed Cast perform live in Philly at The First Unitarian Church. It's been a few months, but I thought I would share my experience anyway. The openers were KC Jones, a local artist with a crazy drummer, and A Great Big Pile Of Leaves, who I never heard before, but now love. Before TAC came on, they started playing this weird recording and the lights dimmed down. To be honest, I didn't know much of their music. I listened to both The End Of The Ring Wars and The Low Level Owl, but just hadn't put the time in yet to really absorb their music. When they opened with "Ceremony," I instantly knew this was going to be a fantastic show. The entire time I felt really heavy and out of it. Everything about the music was so immersive, and I just let myself get lost in it. They played about a dozen songs before walking off the stage. They played a three song encore, that ended with "Steps And Numbers," which was incredible. By the end of the song they had 3 different musicians, one of whom was from AGBPOL, hitting on a couple of drums they took from the drummer. The whole experience was amazing, and I was completely blown away. After the show I was able to get some autographs from AGBPOL and TAC. Really nice guys. I'm definitely looking forward to hopefully seeing them again, and encourage all of you to go out and see them if you get the chance.

I saw them on the recent Low Level Owl tour and they are pretty much butter live. Their music is very immersive, that's the perfect word for it. It's never background music even the instrumentals take you over. This is why I can no longer listen to them in my car anymore. I was listening to A Place In Line and forgot I was driving and got a speeding ticket. This was years ago but won't let that happen again .

They put up more tour dates here: chriscrisci.weebly.com/appleseed-cast.htmland I saw that towards the bottom, my city of about 250,000 in the middle of the prairies (Saskatoon, SK; we're the 'middle state' of Canada) is on the bottom list of planned stops during the winter. Needless to say, I'm pumped. I never figured I'd get to see this band short of an $800 flight. God, I hope that plan doesn't fall through.

Well, fuck. Nevermind. Appleseed Cast just posted the November dates on their facebook, and not only is Saskatoon scrapped, so is anywhere even remotely near. I'm heart broken.
