I wasn't sure if I wanted to make this potential mega-thread, but I'm just gonna run with it.
What albums are you looking forward to this year? What have you heard? You like them? Blah blah blah.
So far, I've only heard the new Decemberists (absolutely dreadful), Asobi Seksu (decent/mediocre), and Mogwai (good).
Looking forward to: Dreamend Kid Dakota Monster Movie (?) Hospital Ships Circle Takes the Square (Not holding my breath, but holy shit I will die if this happens.)
Admittedly, I'm a little behind on knowing what is due out. The past few years I always seem to find new hidden gems by random scouring/blogs, so hopefully this year will bring me more new things!

well, i'm not really sure what is to come out either but last year record store day helped point me in the right direction. When i was reading the 2010 rsd line up i saw this weird band named "black moth super rainbow" and i was like "i have no idea what that is but i have to have it"!!! I ended up not being able to get whatever it was, can't even remember the particular release, but i investigated the music and realized what a phenomenal treat i had stumbled upon and so now here i am : D
But anyway- i am definitely looking forward to any new GFR releases and learning more about existing ones- i have a lot of catching up to do. I am mostly excited about that for this year.
I will be listening and watching out though and post anything i hear or think of that is coming out.....and any neato bubblegum vinyl news....

So far, I've only heard the new Decemberists (absolutely dreadful), that's disappointing. A bunch of people at another board think it is their best album and I'm crazy, so maybe I just need to let it click with me. But on a first listen, I was never into it at all.

The Aphex Twin could be completely lying too, so I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. He's an odd fellow and yet I respect his stance on the music industry milking his music dry for money. Maybe he no longer benefits from contracts on some of his more popular releases. Then again, he does own a tank!

Listened to:
Metal Mountains - "Golden Trees" (Amish Records)
A random find for me. Lovely sort of sometimes dream poppy, sometimes droney, sometimes shoegazey, always lovely and lush. Really pretty late night music, and I can't wait to get further acquainted with album. I hope this year helps me find more random bands like this!

What the hell happened to this band? WHY WERE THEY EVER ON SARAH RECORDS IF THEY WOULD RELEASE THIS?
Kill me.

Listened to:
Tim Hecker - "Ravedeath, 1972" (Kranky)
YES TIM HECKER. Another piece of ambient bliss from a great dude. A beautiful atmospheric album, I could see this rating go up after a few listens. Absolutely gonna be a front runner for album of the year! (Yeah it's early. Sue me.)
