I thought this would be a little interesting... Albums you think are amazing by bands that you would never name drop... ever. Either they tanked as a band afterward or it was an anomaly. There are plenty! The Offspring - Ignition 311 - Grassroots Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E. Sugar Ray - Lemonade and Brownies Jimmy Eat World - Clarity Nerf Herder - Nerf Herder Of course I may just like some of these for nostalgic purposes and am just embarrassing myself, but I like these albums a lot

The first thing that comes to mind is Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park. It's so good, maybe just because of the nostalgia, but I still hate everything they did after.

My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers (reminds me of hanging with my sister)
Filter - The Amalgamut
Limp Bizkit - Three Dollar Bills
Jon Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory (guilty western movie lover)

Hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only closet fan of Three Dollar Bills! And Incubus' S.C.I.E.N.C.E. is another fantastic album esp the "secret track" jam at the end.
I guess some things I could throw on here would be...
Third Eye Blind - S/T
D12 - Devil's Night, can't stand Eminem, but this album cracks me up.

I used to love the Bizkit and everything, but stuff like that holds no appeal to me at all these days. In middle school my favorite bands were Bizkit, Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne. I cannot fathom listening to an entire album by them these days.

Out of all the nu-metal bands out there the Deftones are he only ones I still listen to often.

Definitely agree.
Deftones are still one of my favorite bands, seen them many times at the front row. I still carry battle scars from those gigs.
I will add
Third Eye Blind - Blue
System of a Down - S/T

Yeah, it's a total shame about Chi. Hope he's able to make a recovery, but it's been over a year I think...
As for SOAD, yeah their first album is pretty..dare I say "br00tal", I mean, hell theymake a polka sound so heavy. I didn't care much for their later releases, aside from "Mesmerized" which just had pretty humorous tracks.

Ditto on the old SOAD and Deftones... I do like Glassjaw, however, if they're considered numetal.

I can understand the label of nu-metal for someone like the Deftones and Glassjaw. But they have actual talent and are in a complete different tier of bands compared to bands like Limp Bizkit and Korn...

Glassjaw's first album did have a big nu-metal feel to it. I think if its heavy in drop d tuning then you got yourself a nu-metal band.

I remember loving Korn - Life is Peachy
I would listen to that shit and fall on my ass while attempting to skateboard and ride my bike as a middle schooler.
Rob Zombie - Educated Horses (his albums are never really awesome except this one) Marilyn Manson - Mechanical Animals (loved the blue and white vinyl version)
I hate what they have become now, but when I lived in Mexico and moved to the States, Guns n Roses were freaking icons. I still love Use Your Illusion I. I learned english listening to that album.

The only one I can think of right now is Meteora - Linkin Park. That album is pretty fantastic to me. Haven't listened to it in a while though. But I can actually sit through other LP, they don't bother me at all. One of the mainstream bands I can actually tolerate.
