As a notable fan of arbitrary lists and collections, I have a RYM account. It's not nearly as well documented as it should be, but I have an alright start on it. Anyone else have one? I've gotten a good deal of recommendations from best-of lists and other friends from forums and such. rateyourmusic.com/~kagaku

Nice collection ---- you practically own all the Graveface releases! I was wondering if you think Rate Your Music is better than Discogs .com because I'm interested in creating an account but don't want to go to both. Is one better than the other for certain aspects? They sort of look the same to me. ??

Eh.

Yeah, thanks for that reinforcement because Discogs was where I'm leaning the most. RYM <--- It sort of looks like an older site that never got the basic update to bring it out of the 1990's. Ha!

Still really feeling like the core purposes of RYM and Discogs are different, but whatever...

That's exactly what I thought when I first saw it! I am more of a discogs person too, myself. I actually love discogs a lot haha. But I gotta give credit to this website, helped me snipe Stigmata Boy and Preface for ten dollars total. There was an ad for the ebay auction and NOBODY bid on them. So I slid right in for the kill.

Yes, I actually have a couple Swans albums. They have a lot of good stuff. My favorite by them is probably "Goddamn The Sun." Really depressing stuff.

i used to be big-time into this site, cataloging rating and reviewing just about everything i've heard. they went through some gradual moderation and standard changes a while ago and the community slowly devolved into an incoherent, spiteful hellhole taking the site with it. not much of a fan these days.
for release information, discogs is certainly the best but i'm way past spending any amount of time building a personal catalog online.
