YES A BEER DISCUSSION THREAD.
I love me some Golden Monkey. If you're into tripels like that, I would recommend La Fin du Monde (my favorite beer), and perhaps Weyerbacher Merry Monks!
I think I only drank some Bass tonight. Pretty easygoing pale ale, I guess.

My normal, goto beers would be Red Stripe and Newcastle.
Though, when I'm feelin quite fancy or I'm able to spring an extra buck or two on something nice, I'll go for Chimay (props to you UVS), Nimbus Pale Ale, and current fav Delirium Tremens, which has pink elephants on the label so you know you can't go wrong with that...plus it just has the best name out there for a beer.

I think Delirium Nocturnum is a slightly more badass name, but all the Delirium Nocturnum/Tremens/Noel, etc beers are all pretty enjoyable.

Wasn't aware there were other beers in the "Delirium series" I may have to seek the others out.

If you're into skunkier beers, again, I've been enjoying alot from Rogue. I think it's their signature yeast that gives their beers a pretty distinct flavor. So it's probably kind of an acquired taste as well. Last night my roommates sister randomly hooked me up with a Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA. I was a happy man.

i have drank many a rogue, namely that dead guy ale- its good stuff- i like the big tall bottles. i also drank a lot of newcastle too, before the beer world exploded with micros- and paulaner was my fave for a long time- with orange slices of course- now i have moved on to these high gravity 'skunkier' beers as one of you said, hahaha. more bang! yeahhhh have any of you home brewed? my brothers partners brother (got that? haha) does and he has so much fun customizing the flavors with hints of various herbs and fruits, etc. i am going to try it sometime very soon. caravaggio, i will definitely try your suggestions and let you know what i think! too bad we dont have a resident artisan beer crafter here to brew up a few graveface varieties. what would they be called?

I would want to make something bold and rich like an imperial stout and call it "Forever Heavy".
Also, 90 minute IPA is so good. I think they should be rolling out some 120 Minute around April or so. I hope I can find some when it is out. I'm sure it will be expensive as all hell, but I'm sure it will be crazy good if you are into IPAs.

my favorite go-to at the local bar is de koninck, cheap belgian. if i am in the mood to splurge, i'll go for a chimay or a piraat. the mrs. loves kasteel red (kriek) cherry beer, and duvel. american, i like sam adams for occasional drinking and yuengling for an everyday after work beer. though i cant get yuengling where i live now dogfish head was all over the place when i lived in maryland. found i didnt really like the 90 minute, so im sure i would hate the 120 minute!

Kasteel looks pretty tasty.
A couple hours ago the craft beer bar/restaurant in town said they tapped some kegs of Port Brewing Wipeout IPA and Lost Abbey Red Barn Farmhouse Ale. The IPA sounds nice, but I'm not really in a mood for one. That Farmhouse sounds great though. I guess the lady and I shall be heading out for dinner! Pumped!

Had the Lost Abbey Farmhouse. Was good, but was expecting a bolder, more rich taste to it. Still enjoyed it though.
Also had an Old Chub from Oskar Blues. I'm not a wizard in the realm of scotch ales, but I liked it. Also had a little sip of the lady's Great Divide Claymore, which was also tasty.
yay beer.

I have a love for Stone IPA. Also, if you ever see it around, try out the Stone Russian Imperial Stout. They only do it every once in a while, but it's a magnificent brew.
If you're ever in Las Vegas, stop by the 777 restaurant inside the Main Street Station. They have an in-house micro brewery where they make a series of incredibly good beers that are only $2 during happy hour.
